Phone says no SIM

Help! I got a new phone (Huawei p30) and public mobile SIM but when I put the SIM card in my phone says no SIM. I've been without phone service for almost 4 days and nobody from public mobile has contacted me despite having a ticket. I've tried all the tricks listed in the forums with no luck.

If you start the activation process and key in your 19 digit SIM number and then move to the next field and type in some gibberish.....and then hit the enter key.....do you get an error message in RED about the SIM card as being not valid or something like that? An error message would say that it has been activated.

And secondly if you go into your My Account and select Change SIM....it should give you the last 4 digits of your existed Sim "if" it was activated.

Check the sent folder in the mail icon (top right  of screen) and see if you actually sent in a ticket (sent folder). If you see it reply back to the ticket to the moderators to see what the status is.

I am a new customer. I went through the activation of my SIM online. After waiting a day and nothing happening, because it said this activation could take up to 2h, I went into the account and did the 'change SIM' because I thought maybe I entered the number wrong. So I re-entered it and still nothing.

@pseudopsyance this one ^^^^ by @Albrecht .

Perhaps you have not activated your Public Mobile sim card.  Here's the link to start your Public Mobile Online Activation.  Good luck!

@pseudopsyance are you a new or old customer?

if you are an existing customer you would need to register your new sim card in your self serve account to activate your services. click on the "change sim card" option

public mobiles customer support is all done online. go ahead and check your community inbox to see if they have replied to your ticket

Hi, I tried putting the SIM in my old phone (Samsung S6) and it registers that a SIM card is in it but says "not registered to a network" if I try to make a call.

Your phones need to be carrier unlocked....are they?

If no, you need to know what carrier they were on, get IMEI number, then call carrier for a free unlock.

At at this point I would not worry about APN settings but do a carrier reset and reboot phone.

If you can make calls.....is good....then finalize the set up of phone.

Can you choose the network manually? Scan for networks and choose Public Mobile (if it shows up). Where did the S6 come from? What provider was it with previously?

I have done this several times with no luck. What do you mean by blacklisted? The phone is on the list of phones acceptable to Public Mobile. I checked this when I purchased it. Thanks for helping.

Blacklisting refers to the phone referring to the phone being reported as stolen.

@geopublic When a phone is blacklisted, it wouldn't be able to connect to the network, but generally the error message wouldn't be "no sim".

@pseudopsyance  Remove the sim and reinsert it to see if it makes a difference. If not, maybe your phone is blacklisted.

@pseudopsyance Did you have a chance to try the sim in another phone? Does it work there?
