Phone has stopped connecting to 3g

My phone has stopped connecting to data after a couple of months.  Have lots of data, a 3G plan.  The radio symbol shows signal but no 3g.  I have checked the APN, nothing has changed.

first thing you want to do is you want to head into settings and toggle airplane mode off then back on. make sure your data is on, and then click cellular in settings then you will see many options in that section, you want to click cellular data options and then once you do that you want to toggle off "enable LTE" and then on the top of your screen you should be able to see 3G. i hope this helps you out, if you are still stuck reply to this post and i will still try to help you.

@jjjjjj

You really would need to share model of phone and possibly operating system

There are lots of things that could be at play here

We know it is not likely a network issue (as you indicate radio connection, assumably talk + text only)

We know it is not likely an APN issue (as you indicate no changes)

The simplest solution is of course toggle airplane mode on/off and try rebooting phone

If that fails then more troubleshooting

Easiest way to check is try inserting SIM into another phone (family or friend) to see if it connects

That way you eliminate whether it is SIM / Phone issue

@jjjjjj, Have you disabled data by accident, or deactivated your APN inadvertently?

Turn air plane mode ON then OFF. Do you have another phone to try your sim card in to see if data is working? Have you tried data on more than 1 app, have you confirmed you have no local data restrictions / firewall settings? Go into mobile data usage under settings and make sure you have not used your local "data limit" and there are no network restrictions. Is mobile data enabled on your phone? Toggle wifi on, then off.

Log into self serve, and take a screen shot and upload it here (but remove your name/ account number)

Go into network search and try reconnecting to the network and make sure LTE is set to preferred (even if you have 3g)

Does MMS work? (Not SMS) MMS uses data. Try sending a picture to yourself. Did you get it?

Is there an X above your network symbol? Or does it show H or LTE or 3G?

Allow me to add further to this.  X on the network symbol means no connection to the network.  Having only the signal strength bars and no H/LTE indicator means connection to the network but no data connection .  X could mean faulty SIM or phone is not able to pick up the SIM.  Reseating the SIM card may be a resolution.  No data connection is usually attributed to APN issues or mobile data is turned off or blocked by a usage limit setting.
