Most of my game connection issues, downloading updates not working, slow videos, Steam Link IPv4 connections to Personal PC were all fixed by forcing an IPv4 connection.
Public Mobile seems to only be assigning IPv6. Their MTU (Maximum Transmissable Unit) is set too high so packets get randomly discarded by routers before they reach you. So only IPv4 connections are reliable on Public. Also you can reach IPv4-only servers with this method.
Read the steps to force an IPv4 connection on an APN here:

I am using surfshark but others would work too.
I also figured out that the American version of the app which was created to circumvent the ByteDance bans works totally fine (you'd need to change your location in the app store to US on iphones). So, perhaps telus has mistakenly blacklisted the global version of this app in Canada (as it is associated with ByteDance and TikTok) like it should be the USA ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .

hi @Brian42
it is a Telus network settings. Many mobile carriers are going that route too

This is happening to me too, @hTideGnow suggests that it is throttled, but that is incorrect. I've played that game on slow networks before and it doesn't stop the matchmaking.
A vpn does work for me, but it's quite disappointing to have cellular data and not being to use it for this app.

hi @QianHe
some confirmed Telus network that PM uses will throttled the network usage a bit for video and gaming
one way to bypass it is to use VPN service. But remember even with VPN, the upload speed is always just 10% of your download speed. So, 5G plan has 250Mbps DL but around 25Mbps UL
