On 5G plan but no 5G service ever

Salak

Hi, I have upgraded my plan to 5G a month ago and I have yet to receive any 5G service. My phone is fully compatible with 5G and have been using it with previous telcos previously. My phone settings are all fully enabled for 5G as well. Please kindly advise.

Roaming is a different scenario. Samsung may not enable 5G on Canadian SIM on a Singapore variant. Has this phone worked on 5G with a Canadian SIM (no roaming)?

Public Mobile's 5G plans are unrelated to network type. They actually are only about faster possible speeds.  All of Public Mobile's plans give access to the same networks regardless of whether they are advertised as 3G, 4G, or 5G plans.

Hi @slusagm I am using a Samsung S23+. It is bought from Singapore and I have been using it with 5G since day 1. Even when I was roaming here, I've got 5G. When I eventually moved here and got the 5G plan it does not have 5G. That is the issue.

@Salak different providers have different network band requirements.  Your phone works in another mobile provider does not mean it will work here

What phone do you have? And what provider it worked in before?

If you have a Samsung S20 or iPhone 12, you won't have 5G any more on Bell or Telus in Canada.

@Salak  Any chance you have Samsung s20 ? If so that’s the issues as public mobile doesn’t support 5G with that phone . Even though it’s 5G capable  phone . But also know that even if on 4G/LTE you should still be able to still get 5G speeds
