I am currently traveling in Hong Kong and need to keep my phone number in order to receive verification text messages from my bank.
Since Public Mobile does not offer international roaming, I would like to transfer my number from Public Mobile to Koodo while keeping the same phone number.
However, I understand that during the number transfer process, a confirmation text message is normally sent to the Public Mobile number, and I must reply “YES” to authorize the transfer. Because I am outside Canada and unable to receive SMS messages on my Public Mobile service, I am concerned that I will not be able to complete this step.
Could you please advise what options are available in this situation? Is there an alternative way to authorize the number transfer without receiving the confirmation text message?

I'm contacting Koodo for help completing the switch process, because I accidentally interrupted the application process, I'm no longer able to submit it again. I understand that I need to complete the application steps first, and then deal with the porting issue.

You called Koodo and they don't see any pending port request, then you have to ask them if you submitted the port request with them. PM is the receiving end, if the source of the request (Koodo) does not see the request, how would you expect the receiving end sees the request?

I started the switch to Koodo through the app and completed most of the steps. However, because I was worried that I would not be able to receive the number transfer authorization text message while I am traveling in Hong Kong, I stopped before the final step and did not submit the transfer.
Now, when I try to continue the process, I am no longer able to do so. When I click check out option, I am always taken to a page that says my request cannot be completed and that I need to contact Koodo.
I have already contacted Koodo support, but they told me they cannot see any pending request on their side and are unable to make any changes.
Please advise how I can proceed, thank you.

you are lucky then. Call Koodo support, tell them the situation and they can "move" the line over without the text

hi @Apple99
there is really no alternative way. it is a requirement with all carriers to reply the Text Authorization Text. The reason for this is to avoid Sim Fraud.
You can try to message PM support agent, but I doubt they can help. You can submit ticket by direct message:

Remember CS_agent will reply to your Community inbox within 2 to 4 hours, please check your inbox here:

But what bank you are try to get the 2FA from? it is easier and quicker to call them and arrange with them to get the 2FA code using other ways (like email or authenticator app)

Thank you, yes I'm porting to Koodo

sorry @Apple99 , you need to be able to receive the text and reply Yes to approve the port. I never heard of any way to bypass that, unless you are porting to Koodo or Telus (as they are all same company)
