Number changed and credit card charged without your knowledge

Has anyone gone through this with Public Mobile where  your number was changed without your knowledge and because you signed up for autopayment, payments were charged within your paid service period for more than what you are contracted for?  I have just recently gone through that and the outcome still remains that transactions were made through my self-serve account and that I am responsible for these activities.  Here's a tidbit on how ludicrus these accusations are:

1) My number change from ON area code to SK area code - and might I add there are no intentions of moving any time in the future.

2) I was still within my 90 day Plan with 1 more month to go but I *SEEMED* to have voluntarilty made 2 payments that went WAY WAY over my plan cost so that I could bank it in my account ....and because I could earn interest from that?!!  NOT!!!

Mind you I waited patiently, 7 days, from my initiation of this issue to finally get the same quick answer I got on the 1st day after I notified them of these activities.  They really stand behind their investigative team members.  Within those 7 days I had also been active to ensure my issue was taken care of, requested to be escalated to a manager or supervisor, requested a call discussion with the latter to no avail as Public Mobile does not have a Call Center for such matters.

The end result to all this is I put in a dispute with my credit card company, cancelled the card and put in a complaint to the CRTC for mis-management of account and unauthorized billing.

I'll update this post if this doesn't get taken down.

Good morning everyone,

The issue has been flagged and our team is currently looking into it. I understand that this may not be an ideal experience but I'll do my very best to get to the bottom of it and get it sorted!

Best regards,

Mary

I have not experienced this, and can only suggest that you have weak security on your account, and should change it immediately.

I also suggest you use a password manager such as Lastpass, www.lastpass.com , and setup a password vault where you only need to remember your *master* password, and let the system do the rest for you.

Also, neveer use the same password in more than one service.
