Hello I recently started using public mobile and I set it up for 120 days unlimited text and province calling.
I'm currently in Quebec and I'm not receiving texts from some of my contacts and my calling is not working sometimes aswell. I think it may be due to the fact i kept my number from my old provider (wind) and something is going wrong.
If someone could assist me that would be great! This is very frustrating!

Depending on where you are, you might need to confirm how strong your cellular signal is - if it flashes to a different carrier name rather than 'no service' then you might need to manually select the carrier to get service to work. In border zones, it might pick up a very strong signal from carriers like AT&T, but preferrably, you'd want to select Public Mobile or TELUS as the carrier your phone is connecting to. Different phones have different methods of doing this as well.
Also, as the previous post suggests, starting a new thread will get you faster answers.

You have posted in an old thread - for future reference you'll get help faster if you start a new topic.
How long ago did you initiate your port?
There are reports that Bell sometimes puts a hold on a port and wants to talk to the customer before they let them go...
If it's been longer than 4 hours, you should reach out to the moderator team - they are PM employees and can help with account and porting issues. Working on a first come, first serve basis, they will get back to you as soon a they can.
Use this link to send a private message to the @Moderator_Team, include all relevant information in your message, such as account number, phone number, detailed problem description.

Hey there @fireninga88!
It turns out that your issue is being caused due to an incomplete por request I will need your Freedom Mobile account number to resubmit the port. For more info, refer to the private message I sent you a few minutes ago.
I'll be awaiting for your response 🙂

Thanks everyone!
I messaged a moderator for help.
My number is a Ontario area code as I kept my old number. And yes I meant 90 day plan not 120 sorry. Maybe I should change to a Quebec number I just didn't want to do that because it's a hassle telling everyone my new number.

Your call issue is probably due to your province plan. I heard there is no wind in quebec so that would mean that your out of province, that would explain the no incoming calls. The text on the other hand should not be an issue. If your going to stay in quebec for a long time you could change your number to a quebec number, however you won't beable to change back to your old number after I think.

@fireninga88 You say you are "currently" in Quebec. Is the area code for your number in Quebec or another province?
Assume you mean a 90 day plan, not 120?

Hi @fireninga88,
Sorry to hear that you have problem receiving textos from some of your contacts. I would suggest you to reset your phone and check whether all your contacts numbers are well registered and then try sending texts messages. If nothing works, just send a priveate message to one of our moderators... @Shazia_K and you'll get help asap. Welcome to the community as well as to PM.
Yours,

You should definitely try contacting the moderators then. Sorry for misrreading your question, this shouldn't have anything to do with the initial porting problems.

If you are receiving calls and texts from some of your contacts but not others, that is a problem. With number porting, you should be either received all of your calls and text messages on your Public Mobile service or none of them (if porting isn't complete), not some but not others. How long ago did you request the number porting?
if it's been only a short period of time, sometimes these things correct themself. But if it's been an extended period of time, you'll need moderator assistance for something such as this.

How long has this been occuring for?
I ported my number from Fido and it worked almost instantaneously.
However, I could only call or send texts to others, but not receive them.
It took around 1 hour until I received a text from Public Mobile telling me the port has been sucessfully completed and only then, was I able to receive incoming calls and texts.
You should definitly try contacting the moderators if you run into any further problems.
