My S10 Samsung is still working great; I only buy a new phone when it slows down and things take forever (ie more than a second or 2 lol) to load. Since the email in March about our phones not working on 5G I feel I'm playing chicken; like one day I won't be able to make calls and then l need to rush a buy any available phone. Just wondering if anyone has any insight on this? Thanks!

Thanks it's in Ontario. They didn't give a date, PM just emailed us I think on a Friday in March and said our phone might not work after the following Monday. It was wild!

This link is Really helpful! Thank you.
PM states: You have a VoLTE-compatible device recognized by Public Mobile
- WHERE is a list of 'recognized phones' by PM?
- Is it possible to find out from a phone settings or somewhere else which frequency it currently uses?

Whic province you are at? If you are in Manitoba, you are in much pressing need of changing phone as PM will closing down the 3G networo end of this year
If you are in other province, you will still be impacted slightly as PM is refarming some of that 3G bands in many places across Canada
Why 3G affects you? Your S10 is not on PM VoLTE whitelist, and can only use 3G for voice. If you are in Manitoba, you won't be able to make and receive calls at all after they turn off the 3G. In other part of the country, you will have not as reliable voice calls
But text and data won't be affected as they can use 4G on S10, just voice is the issue

March 2025? I have S10 and have no issues with calls/sms. Personally I do not worry as my plan is 4G (cheapest) and it should work.
If you have USA/Can?Mex plan then you would definitely need VoLTE compatible phone if you want to use it outside of Canada. Technically S10 is VoLTE compatible but PM did not activate it for old phones so you will not see that option in settings even though Internet will tell you it has VoLTE.

No I meant 5G as per the message sent by PM regarding phones possibly not working after March 2025. So far still working but as I said I feel.like I'm playing chicken

No I meant 5G, we got the message our phone might stop working after March 7 or so.

I am assuming you mean 3G not 5G. To make calls on older phones. Your phone must have VoLTE.
Here is more information about VoLTE:

Enter the IMEI of your S10 to see if it is VoLTE on the bottom of the link.
My Samsung S9 is not compatible so check your S10.
