I transferred my phone plan and number to Public Mobile from my old company. What do I do next?

I got my new Public Mobile SIM card on Thursday December the 4th and transferred my phone plan and number to Public Mobile from my old company on Friday the 5th. I got confirmation in an hour from my old company that I was cancelled.

The old SIM card is still in my phone, as per the Public Mobile app saying to have it in until Public Mobile tells me that it is fine to switch, but they have not sent anything since Friday and it has been far more than the 5 hours I was told to wait. I have received no follow-up from PM either on here on the forum or by email or a phone call to my backup number, and don't know if I am supposed to switch my SIM cards yet or there is another step I need to do. My phone has no internet now. What do I do?

Yes it didn't go into SOS mode. Just has no service and I did do the port text confirmation. I will do the SIM replacement now and that will be all. Thank you both.

Yes, Dunkman, I received and replied yes to a port request text.
So then given I have no service with the old SIM, the port should be done by now. I will go ahead with trying the new SIM. Just wish I had been given an update by PM but that's why this forum exists.

Your phone will show SOS once porting is completed then power off your phone and switch to the PM SIM.

The above isn't always true.  Specifically when porting from Telus or Koodo (to any other carrier), the phone might stay connected to Telus or Koodo with that brand's SIM card in your phone until the end of the billing cycle.  I know this from experience. While the service won't work on the old Telus or Kodoo plan after port out is complete, the phone doesn't go into SOS mode.

Porting from your old carrier will take about 2 hours to complete after you reply to the text confirming you are porting your number over to PM.
Meanwhile, your old SIM will continue to work until porting is completed. Your phone will show SOS once porting is completed then power off your phone and switch to the PM SIM.

Did your previous carrier send you a port request text?  Did you text back "yes" to the port request text?

If you have no service with your old carrier SIM card, that usually means the port was completed.  Remove the old SIM card and insert the PM SIM card.
