No service

Ever since I updated my nokia phone, it's saying no sim card, no service in the upper left corner. I'm paid up and I haven't had problems for the couple months I've had it.

Prior to my current phone that has a tray, other phones I've used had a slot. I can definitely say I prefer a slot over a tray. You have to be certain that the card is in there just so and even and flat and then slide it in without catching the card on anything that might jog it. I find that to be very finicky. Maybe you don't.

I find it very odd that just updating your phone has caused it to lose connection to PM.

What exact make/model is it? What OS and version is it?

It's possible the update thing is a coincidence. It's a nokia 3, android version 9. I'm doing my best to put it in, though it is finnicy.

Can you see the SIM # on the card? Check to make sure it matches the last 4 digits in your self-serve Change SIM function.

Also, see if the SIM # starts with 891223.

It does start with that and the last digits are right. Again, I haven't had problems before and never removed it before today.

Well you did seem to lose track of it earlier 🙂

And your plan says Active in the self-serve?

Yes, it says active.

Are there supposed to be two silver lines on the gold part of the sim card? I don't think it's a scratch because they look uniform, but I thought I should check.

jumping in here for a moment....yes i've seen those lines on sims that worked. Of course, you do have that gold part facing down when you slip the tray into the phone, right? here's a youtube vid if needed. Good luck.

Everybody's welcome in any thread. We all want to see the fellow customer happily walk away with a working service.

Excellent to you both.... Have you tried phoning your cell number from a different phone. What happens when you do?

I got my cellphones voice mail message.

Of course you are in a usual area were you would expect a cell phone signal ? Also airplane mode is off ? etc.

Yes to both.

Carefully place the SIM in one spot on the tray and carefully put it in. Turn the phone on and see what you get.

Emergency again? Turn off the phone and carefully remove the tray and carefully place the SIM in the other spot on the tray and carefully put it in. Turn the phone on and see what you get.

Someone went througt he trouble of either removing the back over or sim card tray, removed your sim card, then put the parts back together, stole the sim card, but then just left the phone behind?  I'm not saying that isn't possible, but I would think that it is more likely that a family member wanted to try your phone out but then maybe forgot to put yours back in.

No. The only one who might have done that is my sister, and I already talked to her about it. There are two places for sim cards on my phone (they says you could use the other one while traveling) and only one of them opens with the little key thing and I don't remember which was which.

So....you can't open second sim slot ? Whatever tool you use to open slot 1 will also open slot 2. Sounds like maybe your sim is in the oher sim slot ? Take it out and reseat it in either slots. See if that gets your phone working again. Good luck.

I'm dumb. Guess I just wasn't pushing hard enough. It was in the other one.

I suspended my service due to lost/stolen phone, then reactivated it again. Will I have to wait a bit for it to work again or do I need to do anything else to reactivate it.

Try cycling phone off / on again.

Ever since I updated my nokia phone, it's saying no sim card, no service in the upper left corner. I'm paid up and I haven't had problems for the couple months I've had it.

@kelticwaters  If the restart doesn't work check maybe try using an eraser on the sim contacts to see if it makes a difference.

I would try shutting off for a few minutes and taking card out and putting back in. Hope that helps.
