Issue is fixed. It started working. Thanks everyone.
Just activated the SIM card on an unlocked phone almost an hour ago for a family member. Everything says activated and connected to the Public Mobile network but I can't call out on the phone and when I try to call the newly activated #, it goes straight to voicemail. Can't even receive texts and texts won't send out. Number was not ported. We picked a new number.
Not sure what the issue is.

@catchat3 If your device is compatible with PM's network then make sure that the device has not manually set the network to connect you another provider.
If it's still an issue then you need to submit a ticket and ask PM to reset your account.
To submit a ticket to the Moderator Team, please start a conversation with the Public's virtual assistant, SIMon by clicking the icon below:
If you are still having problems contacting Public Mobile then click here. The link sends you to the private message function and adds the moderator team as recipient for a private message. You just have to enter a title and text in the body of the message describing the problem and post. The message will be received by the moderator team and they will respond to it. You will receive the response in your private message inbox.

The best course of action is to 1st verify if phone works on Telus, or is it problem with sim/service.
You can try another working telus network sim in your phone and your sim in another phone that does work on telus.
If it's not phone, then you can try restarting or reprovisioning your account with adding another dollar then restarting or reporting it lost then found then restarting.
If that doesn't work you can try contacting moderators https://publicmobile.ca.ada.support/chat/

That will be the next thing I try. I just have to wait another hour or so for the phone that is currently on a PM network to be available for me to use.

Based on the part in bold & underlined, can we assume you DID NOT port a number over from a previous provider?

Yes it's compatible.
it's not on airplane mode.
I've tried restarting the phone a few times.

Can you try the sim in another phone that you know for sure worked on telus network?

@catchat3 it sounds like your SIM didn't provision properly. Have you tried the sim in another phone? If it works, then its a setting problem on you other phone. If it doesnt, try putting $1manually into your self service / my account . If this doesnt work. Contact a moderator and explain your situation . Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen . This connects to the autobot Simon. Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one (CLICK on account specific question and human and submit a ticket

Is the phone compatible?
Is it in airplane mode?
Can you restart the phone with pm sim inside
