I am surprised to see that this community is very helpful. Usually online forums are pretty laid back.
Just one last thing, does anyone know how to contact Public mobile. Can I postpone the current plan which I just activated today morning. So I could use it next month after getting a new phone. And for now I stay with Chatr.

@arora1307 sorry we didn't have better news. 😞 Best of luck with your new position!

Oh okay, now this makes sense. Thanks for sharing insights on the frequency range. I just migrated from Chatr to Public today and Redmi 4 was not supported on their network either.
Looks like I have no option other than buying a new phone. In job transition, so wanted to avoid this unnecessary expense but guess no way out.
Thanks so much all of you,

I know, that sucks 😞 I wish we could do more to help.

@Rockdaddy22 iPhone too old for the APN and with broken Wi-Fi needed to set it, and a backup phone from the wrong market--talk about a string of bad device luck eh? 😞

Tried what's possible from you all have suggested but for some reason, my phone data doesn't connect. Not sure what else can I do. I think it's because my phone is pretty old and it's wifi doesn't work. So I don't have a way to use unlockit.co.nz.
I have a backup Redmi 4 from India. Does anyone of you have India if it will be supported? I tried putting public mobile sim in this but doesn't show any network. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot again,
@arora1307 It looks like the Indian-market Redmi 4 sadly will not work with Public Mobile. Actually, it *may* work for data but only in areas where there is LTE band 5 coverage, and band 5 is a suplmental band so not too prevalent. This phone is missing the crucial 850MHz and 1900MHz 3G network frequencies, as well as the primary LTE band, band 4 (and other helpful bands like 2 and 7) so it really is virtually useless with Public Mobile (and Koodo, Telus, Virgin, Lucky, and Bell). It will work on Rogers, Fido and Chatr using Rogers' 2G GSM network, but the data will be painfully slow.

Thanks, it says Redmi 4 is supported. But I am not able to connect to the network.

You could try a factory reset of your iphone or the other backup phone to see whether it would work with public mobile.

@srlawren wrote:@arora1307 I thought someone would have chimed in with the procedure by now but I did a search and found it for you. Connect your phone to WiFi and then browse to http://unlockit.co.nz/unlockit/ in Safari on your phone. Choose Public Mobile and then follow the prompts and it will set up your APN.

Great advice 🙂
Please try the unlockit site and let us know if it helps.

Thanks Everyone, you all have been very helpful. But looks like I am in a tough nut. Tried to change settings and all but nothing worked yet. Let's see if some new ideas come up to get this going. Hope I don't end up wasting this month's plan fees.

@srlawren, oops... I too am not an iPhone user (now), and I didn't read the details of that link today. My Bad 😞

@stonechucker someone needs to tell gishan that PM does not operate a 2G network!
@arora1307 as @stonechucker noted, 4S and older require a special prodedure that I don't recall (as I'm not an iPhone guy). I'm tagging @Luddite and @Rockdaddy22 in hopes that one of them can point you in the right direction.

Thanks a lot! I have an iPhone 4S. I verified phone IMEI before signing up for service. It was supported on Public mobile network.
Let me try the link you have shared.

This is most likely an issue with your phone rather than PM service. What type of phone are you using? You should check the APN settings to make sure they are correct.
