New to PM - Poor reception

Hello all, I just joined PM and have significantly worse reception with my new PM 4G LTE plan then with my previous provider.  Tried rebooting and re-install SIM.  What else can I try? Im using a US-purchased Samsung S21 (SM-G991U1) purchased direct from Samsung, .  Could I be missing some significant band? I believe all PM-utilized bands available on the Samsung.

Public Mobile uses the following frequency bands: 4G LTE and LTE Advanced: 700 MHz, 850 MHz, 1900 MHz and 2100 MHz downlink and 1700 MHz uplink (AWS). HSPA: 850 MHz, 1900 MHz (UMTS)

3G = 850 (5), 1900 (2)

4G = 850 (5), 1900 (2), 700 (12/13/17/29), 1700/2100 (4), 2600 (7), 1700/2100 (66)

I recently had some troubles with a "foreign" phone. I finally went with a suggestion to change the firmware. Where previously I was getting a couple bars when sitting idle. Now I'm getting a couple more. Same position and all.

Go in to settings, about phone, software information and find the service provider software version. Also the Baseband version.

I'm not expecting you to do a complete firmware update...mine was just a side effect of trying to fix another problem...which it did...and then more bars showed up.

Is there a way to see the 3g or PM tower location in an area?

Located in Etobicoke, a suburb of Toronto.  Great coverage as per PM coverage map.  Previously with Fido, on the Rogers network.

Network Mode is set to Auto Connect, using LTE/WCDMA/GSM

Other options are: WCDMA/GSM, WCDMA Only, and GSM Only

Yes, 1 dropped call and occasional problem with voice quality dropping.

Text works fine.

Now that you mention it, I did notice slow data but could have been the app (game)  I was using at the time so I dont want to consider that an issue at this time.

It seems to jump between 2 bars and 4 bars at random while staying in the same spot.

Can you set the networks to LTE/3G/2G. Maybe it's set on 2G. But you have some calling so maybe not.

@mmendes2   this could be an issue with the fact that PM using only 3G network for voice.  Maybe poor 3G reception in your area.   Sorry, there is no date when VoLTE will come.  But try in different area of the city first and see.  You can also try to Reset all network once and see if it helps (but this will delete your saved Wifi connections and you will need to re-join them)

Previously with Fido.

Voice primarily, experiencing the occasional dropped call or poor voice quality.

Haven't tested around the city yet, but experiencing the problem on our main floor in suburban Toronto.  No issue previously with Fido.

No other phone to test with unfortunately.

@mmendes2

Where are you located? Was your previous provider using the Roger's network?

@mmendes2

By poor reception do you mean you have poor voice quality? Trouble sending/recieving texts? Slow data? Try toggling airplane mode on /off to improve your network connection. Reboot.

@mmendes2   US model S21 will work on PM without problem too

Which were your old provider before?

you notice problem with voice only ? or data as well?

You tried to use your phone in different area in your city yet?   Wonder if it is just a receptiion issue with one particular spot

Do you have another phone to test the PM sim and reception?

If it is just voice issue, it could be that PM ONLY use 3G network for voice at the moment.  There is no VoLTE here yet, although it should come soon.
