Got new phone, want to keep current sim card and phone number, can I simply put sim card in new phone and activate? How to do this?

Think of the SIM card as the 'same' as an old SD memory card.
When using a different device, it is generally transferrable from one to the other.
Most SIM cards these days are nano sized, but some still use the micro sizing.
Here's a picture to show how to increase or decrease the sizing depending on the SIM card slot size on your new device. If you need to make it bigger, many mobile outlets will have the adapters which they'll likely give you to do so...

Everything is stored in the SIM so everything is in the SIM so transfer the SIM to the new phone. Depending on what phones you are transferring the SIM. If you are lucky, they use the same size. If not, you will either remove or add a spacer to the SIM to fit the SIM tray.
My friend got a new phone but the SIM required a spacer so he took it into a cell phone kiosk and they put on the spacer at no charge.

HI @Hyatt as long as the sim card can fit into the new phone, put it in, turn it on and done!!
if your sim card is too big for the sim tray, it should be pre-cut and can peel it off to make it smaller

Yes. Put the card in and go
