I’m looking to buy a new iPhone 15 and transfer my public mobile SIM card from my current iPhone 7. What are the steps? Will I be able to keep my number?

You need to backup everything from the iPhone 7 to the icloud first then scan the Apple QR code with the iPhone 15 to transfer to the iPhone 15. Once done, just power off both iPhones and swap the SIM to the iPhone 15. Power on the iPhone 15 and you are done.

To set up the new phone, you can do a side by side to copy stuff from 7 to 15.

@AQT simply move the sim card from one phone to the next.  The number and account  follow the sim card.
