I'm getting a new phone. It uses a different size sim card than my existing phone. So I need a new sim card but for the same number and account as my current one. How do I go about doing this?

Many mobile shops should have plenty of these lying around from other activations they've done where the user only needed a NANO size. Get one from them...

@Yukoner : I would imagine any cell store would have frames they've thrown out. Or sell for cheap.

You don't need a new SIM card.
Use the adapter sizing options on your current one to fit the new device. If the new device is using a smaller SIM size slot, snap off the outer adapter of your current PM SIM card. If the new device is using a larger SIM size, add an adapter. If you don't have one, surely many mobile merchants would have many extras around.
It's not entirely impossible that a new SIM card would be needed, just not that likely if the customner joined with about the last 5 years. There was a time as recent as 2015 that there were seperate Public Mobile SIM card versions for each size.

@Yukoner as @Spudster posted, SIM cards come in 3 adjustable sizes.
If you need a smaller one: gently snap out the outer parts to fit in your SIM slot.
If you need a larger one: obtain the outer parts from a cell shop, who likely regularly throw them away. You could probably get one free pretty easily. Place the outer parts around your smaller size and gently insert.
It may be possible if you have a really OLD SIM that is larger, that you cannot break it down yourself. But cell shops can cut it down for size...probably for a small charge.

(EDIT: the only caveat might be if your existing Public Mobile SIM card is VERY OLD and wasn't the tri-cut variety. In this case, options are limited to adjusting it's sizing for a different SIM slot fit)
