Just bought the 17 pro max. Bought the new eSIM (had the pm SIM card in my old phone) and activated it. Phone seems to work but I can’t get the data working. I tried all the troubleshooting suggestions. Help!

Managed to fix my own issue ... some other expired eSIM's from traveling abroad didn't transfer over properly during the migration to the new phone. They were inactive but still somehow impeding the newly installed Public Mobile eSIM from transmitting data. Once I deleted them, the issue was resolved.

Did you find a resolution to the issue? I have what appears to be precisely the same scenario ... just bought the iPhone 17 pro max. Been a PM customer for many years using physical SIM ... bought the new eSIM since new phone doesn't support physical. Installed successfully, can make/receive calls but no cellular data despite the eSIM seemingly being installed fine.

That may be the case, IDK, but I can’t find that in Apple support and a (not always accurate) search says:
IOS 26.1 allows you to view and edit your Access Point Name (APN) settings, but whether you can see the current APN depends on your carrier's permissions. You can check this by going to Settings > Cellular > Cellular Data Network.

That's not true. Public Mobile has only changed the APN settings once and that only affects MMS. If you're using the older settings, data would still work but MMS wouldn't work. Apple is the one who programs the APN settings on the iPhone, not Public Mobiule.

hi @GGR9
this is normal, APN does not usually show on iPhone, the APN is only for hotspot
for iPhone, it is control by Carrier Profile instead. did you update your Carrier Profile?

Yes, voice call is working. Bought it 2 days ago from the Apple Store. I’m moving from an older iPhone that worked perfectly on PM for a year (SIM card vs eSIM). The strange thing is the new phone won’t show the apn it is using - only shows the hotspot apn. Support tried to help, now says talk to Apple.

Does anyone have this phone working properly on Piblic Mobile?

Thanks for the detailed response. Tried all of these. Currently have a ticket with PM. I read it may be an issue with IOS 26.1.

@GGR9 voice calls working or not?
there is a chance the esim was not properly enabled
On iPhone: check Settings > Celluar and see if the eSIM is there. If it is, make sure the PM eSIM is set as Primary on "Cellular Plan Label" and "Turn on This Line" is toggled on
If the Public Mobile eSIM is there, disable or delete those non PM sim (eSIM/Physical sim).
If there is an non-PM esim, disable by turnning off "Turn on this line"
Then reboot the phone and click Reset All Networks on your phone and it will work. (Please note that Reset all Networks will also erase your saved Wifi and Bluetooth connections, but you just need to add them back after). Also, it is possible you have to reset it multiple times for it to work.
if it still does not work, open ticket with PM by private message CS Agent using this link:
