I haven't had much success using the login method either (after doing the community login). So use the 4 digit account pin option. If you can log in to your account and you don't remember the pin you set up then you can change it there.
Adding - is this an iphone? Are you "texting" while connected to wifi? Have a look at devicecheck.ca to rule that out too.

Getting support with all the logins etc which trip me up is CRAZY! I am feeling "done" with the lack of support. Perhaps saving money isn't worth the hassle. Lol!

@AnneMarie4 Samsung S10? if so, it will work here, you just need PM support to reprovision the sim card and it should be good

What model and brand of phone you have?
is the phone showing not connected to PM network at all?
try reboot the phone once more. If you have another phone, test the PM sim there
no worry if it does not work still, likely just sim provisioning issue, an easy fix for PM and you just need to open ticket with them:
1. Open ticket with Chatbot for faster response (2-48 hours), using direct link: https://publicmobile.ca/chatbot.
Start by typing "Forgot Login Information", then click "Contact Us",, then click "Click here to submit a ticket ↗"
