My wife and I are both on Public Mobile. Last month she appeared to have used all her data. Today is the first day of the next billing period. She has the basic account with 250 MB of data. However, instead of getting a balance of 250 MB today it shows 105 MB has been used and 145 MB left. But when you look at usage history (which does not go very far back, nothing has been used since Dec 9. And before that very little. Does the system somehow go into negative data balance and immediately subtract it when the next billing period starts??

I had noticed that on my account also. The total used/left for the month (I am on the 250MB plan also) never matches the details in history. I always looks like I used more than I did. I had opened a ticket with support (about 4 or 5 months ago), and was told this was a know issue.

It just went down by itself later in the day. PM's computer system seems to be run by gremlins.

how you got it down? did PM help or you rebooted phone or you just waited a day ?

The usage went down to 5 MB from 105 shown earlier today, so this buffer theory seems to be correct.

@Ron210 The phone should indicate which apps used data, it actually doesn't take long to go through what is these days a relatively small amount. In iPhone the data use per app is under Settings - Cellular, for example. But I still think it's a buffer, if I recall correctly it used to be 5MB then went up to 100MB maybe when the large data buckets on 5G started to come in. When I had the $15 250MB plan I used to keep cellular data turned off unless I actually needed it for something when I was out.

the actual data wont show up in Usage history until tonight. So, you can check tomorrow and see how much it recorded
but I heard about the 100Mb extra. Not sure what is that and why. Ask PM and sort that out

She did use it today and went into Google once while on Cell Data. That should have not used 105 MB.

I dont believe there is any negative data balance, once you use up your data for the billing period, it will cut off your data and will have to wait until next payment to use data again. It may be a display error/glitch, can you try viewing it on the app or a private browser?
(also, you mentioned nothing has been used since Dec 9th, which is today, maybe she used it today?)

the 100Mb should be a buffer usage and many said they see that too. Not sure if that affect your actual usage (ie, whether you will now able to use all the way to 350 mb)

@Ron210 I think it's a weird thing it does when a cycle renews, I think someone said it was a kind of PM buffer and doesn't mean you actually used that much. I've seen the same thing although it wasn't quite as much of a concern as I have ample data.
