Hi everyone,
I’m having a strange issue with TikTok. Regular TikTok videos play perfectly on my mobile data, but whenever I join a TikTok LIVE, the video stays frozen or paused while the comments continue to update. As soon as I connect to Wi-Fi, the LIVE plays normally.
I’ve already tried restarting my phone, and I still have plenty of data left on my plan, so I don’t think it’s because I’ve run out of data.
Has anyone else experienced this with Public Mobile? Is there a network setting, APN setting, or anything else I should try to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

When your TikTok Live freezes but regular videos play normally, it is usually caused by an unstable internet connection or insufficient device resources, as live streams require much more real-time bandwidth and processing power than cached videos.
Make sure you disable data saver and power safer
Try clear app cache. Might even want to uninstall and reinstall the app

Hey @Jordz
It's a long shot but I feel it should work. Try downloading Opera (the web browser) as it has a free built in VPN feature that should help with the "Live" videos.

Public Mobile implements a backend policy that intentionally limits mobile video streaming speeds to manage network bandwidth. While regular TikTok videos can pre-buffer in the background without you noticing, TikTok Live requires an uninterrupted, high-bandwidth real-time stream. When Public Mobile's system caps the video data rate, the live broadcast instantly chokes and freezes. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) encrypts all of your internet traffic. When you turn on a VPN, Public Mobile's network can only see that you are downloading generic encrypted data packets; it can no longer see that you are watching a live video stream. As a result, it cannot trigger the video throttle, letting your TikTok Live stream pull data at your maximum plan speed. Download a reputable, secure VPN app (like ProtonVPN, NordVPN, or TunnelBear). Turn it on before opening TikTok on cellular data. Also,TikTok has an aggressive built-in setting that alters how the app behaves when it detects you are off Wi-Fi. Sometimes this setting conflicts with network caps and completely breaks live streams.

Do you have a VPN on your phone? Disable it and see if that helps. I have the same problem when I am on FB with the VPN enabled.
