Need a 12 dollar plan with unlimited text

@Alan_K @Jared_K @ @ @Brooke_C @Mary_M  ....Can we get a plan with unlimited texts? Similar to Koodo's $15 prepaid, but less expensive due to PMs online structure? Your promos seem to be aimed at higher priced plans.

P.S. I'm new here. Is this literally all we can do—comment on a public forum—to hopefully, maybe, encourage Public Mobile to improve their plan offerings? Obviously they don't have a number to call, but leaving a random comment on a site doesn't seem like the best way to change anything.

Think you'll find that true of most discussion boards though, and the $10 plan fits me perfectly. Can't complain about the referral program either, but I would also like an option of unlimited text and/or calling for less.

@emdash I wouldn't hold your breath for anything that resembles actual change at Public Mobile.  The pace of things like that here is agonizingly slow.  You can continue to make suggestions of course, but just keep your expectations low.  Unfortunately you have to judge PM based on what you see today and not what you hope they will offer tomorrow, because "tomorrow" may end up being years away, or non-existent.

On this topic: PM could skirt this issue entirely, keep the plan at $10 with 50 and 50, by simply introducing a new domesting texting add-on.  You can add minutes via the LD min add-ons.  Why not make an analogy of those:  $8 for 200 outgoing messages, $15 for 400, non-expiring.  Incoming texts remain unlimited.  Done.  But alas, please see my point above about expectations.

There used to be a subforum for ideas and suggestions - the lab. It got shut down because it got somewhat messy, and Public Mobile seemed to be too understaffed to actually maintain it. It didn't help that there were, for some ideas, dozens of threads suggesting the same thing instead of adding their comments to the first existing one (oh, wait, that would have required a search!) And some users spammed it with requests for 1st tier features for 3rd tier pricing...

Any suggestions? 😕

I’ll never pay $40. Let alone $30.

$10-15 per month is my limit. The 50 text option is scaring me off and frustrating me because, as it is presently, I’d have to pay $25 per month for a decent amount of texts... which is unacceptable.

In my humble opinion … the $10 plan should include 50 mins and 100 texts, at least. Bumping the number of outgoing texts from 50 to 100 shouldn't cost Public Mobile anything, really, because of how texts physically work.

That's three-tenths of a penny per text!

And yeah, I totally agree that there needs to be a very slightly more expensive plan with unlimited texting. $12 would do it for me!

On that note, I wonder how much it would actually cost Public Mobile to add unlimited texting to the $10 plan anyways? They'd have stats on the average usage of unlimited texting, I expect.

PM wants customers to obtain a $40 plan or greater. Very obvious on how they are structured.

They have to to figure out on how to make a plan which is at least a bit better than the $15 Koodo prepaid plan.

It is somewhat disappointing that they have 50 texts with the $10 plan. I agree, 100 texts makes more sense. I realize that this is an emergency type plan and suits some people just fine, but I’d bet that they could use a few more texts. Even my mother would burn through 50 texts easily. 😆

$15.00 would match Koodo’s prepaid plan, but Koodo has phone support. So PM would have to include talk minutes. 100 minutes would be a definite “go”.

I'm thinking that even a $15 plan with unlimited texts would be a good intermediate tier, otherwise it's a big jump from the $10 plan to  the next higher level.

Nope. Still holding out for $10 unlimited province/unlimited text. Pull back the call range and increase the texting. That'd be a promo!

They already have the wherewithal to do province or country or even CA/US and unlimited texting. Flip a few switches here and there and bam.

Otherwise yes a texting add-on would be usefully practical. I'd buy that to have in the back pocket for the rare times I might go over the 50 SMS and not worry about it.

Lets go PM!!! Give us a $12 50 minute/Unlim Text or create a Text add-on feature.

Just noticed that Public Mobile has plans of:

$10

$20

$25

$30

$35

$40

$45

$50

The only one missing is the $15 plan. *Pretend that $47 plan doesn’t exist. LOL.

@c70nut

One time $10 rebate or $10 rebate for 6 months? i think we are talking about two different promotions.

Anyway, this is what I do now:

@I am with Fido’s $15 @ 3GB DATA plan and using VoIP.ms which is forwarded to my Google Voice number for incoming calls using an iPhone. For outgoing, I use Google Voice directly.

I get free texts (SMS and MMS) with my Google Voice number using Hangouts.

Also my Ontario number is with VoIP.ms and I presently get free SMS with them which is then forwarded to my email which I get instantaneously for the most part.

All ll I want is simplicity and to give PM my $12-15 bucks. LOL ...and have a little more minutes and unlimited texts per 30 days. Hope it will happen!

It’s Christmas, so YULE never know. Smiley Wink

Plus a free SIM card worth $10.  It's a rebate as you pay the $10 up front and get $10 credit to use on the next bill cycle.

If you want more texting than the plan allows get a WiFi texting app and get unlimited texting and calling free.  Best of both worlds 🙂

Not so- I just got $10 off rebate,  free SIM card (worth $10) and $2 monthly credit,  all on a $10 monthly plan.  Therefore three promos on the cheapest plan!  Can get more too with referrals and community credits.

I'm pretty frugal  but I'm not expecting any better deals than this....

A $30 plan is required to receive the $10 off for up to 6 months. You cannot get $10 off on the $10 plan, nor the  $20 or $25 plans. This is aimed at having a $30 plan minimum.

And for the $2.00 off each month, that is for autopay and anyone with a credit card assigned to the account.

And after the the run around from Walmart and other companies refusing to sell a SIM card outright, well...free they should be!

Anyway...

It just might be that I am frugal, and cheap, or maybe I am just a penny pincher. 🙂

I do know that I am on a limited  income yet willing to pay more than the $10 ($8) plan.

Actually...it looks to me that he took up the promo of free sim and next 30 days credit. It looks like he got the $10 plan and so that was the promo "rebate".

I barely use my phone anymore so I'm very happy with the $10 plan.

Nice, if he received the $10 promo for the $10 plan. 🙂

Well..the "rebate" was your next month credit of the one promo. The free SIM was that same promo. And the $2 is just the standard autopay reward. But there are 4 reward categories here. So enjoy.

But if you had signed up for the highest price plan and then future dated a change plan to the $10 plan for your next renewal then you would have had several months of Available Funds to pay for that $10 plan. 🙂 That's frugal.

But welcome anyway 🙂

We also need to remember the PM is a company run by a MONSTER Company that is in it to make a profit.  They will not have a plan that works for everyone.  I am sure they have researched and found that if they put in a low dollar unlimited text plan that they would lose $XXX.XX amount in revenue because text is how many people communicate now.  So they have offered the low usage / emergency use plan and from there if you are a daily user you will need to pay more.  If it was unlimited texting I would assume that most on the $25 plan would immediately swith to the new plan and that would be a reduction of $10 per customer that switched.

Or an increase in revenue from the ones on the $10 plan.

A $12 unlimited text plan or $15 unlimited text plan with 100 minutes are both nice.

It is a shame that PM doesn’t want us to have that option of an add-on for extra texts. Although, ain’t it  funny how they offer text add-ons when one is in the USA.

They need a plan with unlimited texts aimed at a lower price.

ie $12 Unlimited Texts and Picture texts.

$15 Unlimited Texts and Picture texts with 100 minutes.

Although the $10 plan is for low use/ emergency, PM should offer something that competes with Koodo too. Not just Chatr and Lucky!

And I say no different price. They do that with all the promos. They stick in some extra enticement but the price stays as was. I say $10 - unlimited province, unlimited text.

But they don't seem interested in attracting bottom dwellers. 'cuz they're already here ! 🙂
