Once you ocear that up if you need a phone for talk/text/data a local prepaid option is usually the best way to go, as well as VoIP apps.

@chetan16 Using text for 2FA is never a good choice.
Contact your bank (email, live chat) and see what they can do at the moment. No worry, they do have backup plans for those who cannot receive text anymore
Also, some banks give you the option to use Authenticator app, it's time to look into it now

Speak to your financial institution and/or check your online account for your other options. Most banks give you the choice of sending OTP via SMS or a voice call some will offer an email option.
I have used the voice call option many times and specifically suspend my own pm accounts or ones that I manage via lost/stolen before midnight eastern on day 30 of your cycle. This leaves your voicemail active while all your other services are paused. Similarly while you have active service you cannot access or use it but you can still access your voicemail services.
Note: lf you choose to suspend your service in this manner you must pay and reactivate by day 88/89 for 30 days to keep your account and phone number. Once this is done contact customer support to have any rewards you may have applied manually as suspending via lost/stolen causes your rewards to not automatically apply upon renewal.
Download a voip app such as textnow or fongo. You can use these providers with wifi or mobile data. Choose a Canadian phone #. Arrange to have your OTP sent by a voice call that leaves your verification code as a voice mail message. Call your pm phone # using your voip phone #. Once your call connects press "*" and enter your voicemail pin # (you may want to strengthen your vm pin # do so in your self serve account.)
Now you have full access to your voicemail services. Enter your OTP code and once it's accepted erase the message. If you prefer not to suspend you can always schedule a change plan on next renewal to the $15 plan to lower costs. @dust2dust suggestion also offers the option of the "friend" call forwarding your pm number to your voip # once your now swapped SIM card is in Canada.
Canadian Cell Supplies sells pm SIM cards usually for $2.99 with free shipping via Canada Post across Canada in 5 business days on average. Happy Travels and Stay--Safe!

To pre-verify your account include in your private messaging only your full name, address, email, phone # and 4 digit acct pin #.

Unfortunately, PM/Telus does not have service in India. So I suggest you call your bank and explain your situation and maybe do online banking while you are out of the country.

That's an unfortunate oversight to make. Public only works in Canada or roaming add-ons in the US.
Do you have people here you can trust? They could go buy a sim and tell you the number and you can change it in your account and then they can insert the sim and then you can prompt the OTP from the bank and then they can receive the OTP and then tell you the code. Phew. One option anyway.
