My phone has been blacklisted. What now?

My IMEI has been unfairly blacklisted only on the Telus/Public Mobile network.  I bought my device directly from an Apple store and have not reported it lost or stolen.  I do not have a contract on this phone and have only ever done pay as you go.

What can I do to resolve this issue?

Hi @Anonymous Definitly a saga...

I purchased my phone directly from a real Apple store.  It was in the original factory sealed packaging and not refurbished.  I paid the retail price and was not offered any sort of discount.  I would expect Apple as a company to have consistent rules and expectations regarding the sale of their products when you purchase directly from them no matter what the company.

I have read reports of phones being blacklisted on a Telus specific list.

I wonder if it may have something to do with it coming from the US though.

I would recommend following @mimmo 's advice. If it's blacklisted on the Telus/Koodo network you would probably get better results contacting them directly instead of Public Mobile.

I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate situation. I hope it can get it resolved soon.

 @TheBeekeeper:

This has been quite the saga.

I wonder if you can recall when you bought the phone whether it was still in the original untouched packaging. Or whether it was a demo, floor, returned, refurbished whatever phone. Did it seem less cost than others at the time. You get what you pay for and all that.

I seem to recall from your first thread that you got it in the states. Different retail rules there.

Why only the Telus database would indicate blacklisted is curious. That's a good idea of an above poster to go to Telus.

Hi @TheBeekeeper

Since you bougth the iPhone directly from Apple, I will try to find out if something other than blacklisting is going on. Moreover, you mentioned that the phone is blacklised on Telus/PM network, do you mean the phone works on other network? If yes, then blacklisting is definitely not the issue. If "no", then blacklisting may be one of the plan for solution but may be not the key one.

I wouldn't expect any network carier to just blacklist a phone without some confirmation to find out if such person actually owns it, and you have not reported your phone stolen, so .........

You may check this link for more info on blacklisting of iPhones.

Thank you!  @mimmo @Jarvar

My next step will be showing proof of purchase to Telus/Public Mobile.  I would like to know how this happened to begin with.  It has wasted hours of my time to no fault of my own.  It’s unacceptable.

I purchased a Public Mobile SIM card last week and signed up for service with automatic payment.  I have not been able to use my phone at all even though I am paying for service right now.  My phone only shows “no service” so I did visit an Apple store this weekend to see if there was something wrong with my device.  They checked it over and told me nothing wrong with the phone.  I asked them if it is blacklisted and they told me they can see that it is not.  However, when I check my device compatibility on the Telus/Public sites, it shows up as compatible but reported lost or stolen which it most definitely is not.  So long story short...yes, I’ve checked with Apple.  😄

Welcome to Public Mobile @TheBeekeeper

I would backup with @mimmo suggested in contacting Telus/Koodo.

Just wondering though. Did you speak with Apple by any chance? If Telus and Koodo are not able/willing to deal with it. You could go back to Apple and ask them what happened? You would most likely get a replacement or some sort of solution from them as well since you got it directly from them.

I hope this works out for you.

I believe you need to contact telus/or koodo show them the proof of purchase for your phone and they will take teh proper steps to remove the blacklisting.
