Moved from ON to BC (Coquitlam)

My wife and I, we recently moved from ON to BC and we both are facing issues with network (especially direct calls) and sometimes internet is specific areas. Internet connectivity in our building is fine. But the calls is the main issue its often laggy and drops the connection midway and makes the entire conversation very vague and non conclusive. We tried restarting, airplane mode on/off, flipping through 3G/LTE/5G. But nothing seems to work.

Phone- I'm using Samsung ZFlip5 and my Wife has iphoneX

You didn’t say where in Coquitlam you’re located. Based on the cell network towers map none of the carriers offer service in Westwood Plateau where I am. However Telus widely serves Burke Mountain and the more populated areas.

This has been really terrible because the lack of cell reception makes it tough to use any carrier. At least when I was on Virgin (Bell) I could switch to wifi calling to mitigate the service issues.

what phone do you have?

from what you said, you likely not using a phone that is VoLTE compatible with PM network.  In this case, while data can use 4G or LTE or 5G, your voice calls still rely on 3G.  But Telus is cutting some 3G connection in some area and hence phones that rely on 3G for voice might be affected

hi @Atul0

what phone do you have?

I think you are affected by this:  Telus is refarming all of their 850 to 10 MHz LTE B5 in their markets, mainly BC, AB, Windsor, Ottawa, GTA area Montreal, Quebec City.   Bell has not done this, so it won't affect area that has Bell networks which Telus/PM use

So, if your phone has only 850 Band 5 on the phone but lacks 1900 Mhz, if your phone were bought from another country, or an imported model, then you might be impacted with no 3G voice service at all
On the other hand,  if the phone has 1900 Mhz,  or it is a Canadian/US model,  it likely won't be impacted as much but the voice calls quality might still degraded
