Messaging Issues

Kjh875

Has anyone had issues with messaging? I have an android and have done everything possible on their end to resolve and they think it may be a carrier issue at this point.

Never had this issue before. Cannot message attachments (photos or documents) and cannot reply to group text threads.

If you've had this issue and resolved, plase share.

Thank you

Can also confirm this works.

I use a Sony Xperia 10 III.

I haven't been able to send MMS since the 14th, and I coincidentally upgraded to a new plan at the same time, so I though that was the issue.

Turns out it was just the announced MMS changes affecting APNs.

 Tried manually entering everything (I'm used to it because I remember years ago I had to modify my APN to get data to work when I switched to PM as my carrier).

Gave up and followed the advice - deleted all custom APNs, reset to default APN, edit "MMSC proxy" and
"MMS port" to the mentioned values, and restarted.

Pictures that had failed to send for days suddenly showed up.

*I also double checked that wifi was disabled the entire time to verify MMS was working again - also disabled automatic wifi turning on.

Thanks for sharing. Unfortunately this is not resolving the issue for me. I've tried a couple of times. Appreciate your help

@Kjh875

i suggested a similar fix earlier from someone's post.  And today, we have another member confirmed that it works:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Get-Support/One-Plus-9-Pro-APN-Settings/m-p/1141456/h...

"deleted all the APN settings reset the values added in the PM recommended settings"

Great question. It was about a week ago when i updated to Android 14. Oneplus is sending me to Public Mobile for resolution

@Kjh875 it could be the latest OS update that broke it.  Did you got the issue right after the update?? I was reading Simone in Koodo have the same problem with OnePlus on Android 14.  I am not sure if downgrade back to.l 14 is an option, but report to OnePlus support and wait for the next major update

In the mean time, use other app to send multimedia, like WhatsApp or FB Messenger or Google RCS

@T250cc1 I would hold on to the Android 14 update until we have other confirming if MMS works on Android 14 on OnePlus

I have the latest android 14 update. I have a feeling my phone is no longer compatible with PM. They've come out with a list of phones and mine is not on it. Looks like I'll have to find a new carrier. Good luck. I hope you fare better than me.

Have a Oneplus 8T with Android 13, still able to mms with no change to my APN settings. I'm curious if I will have the same issues as you when I received Android 14 update later

@Kjh875

try this

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Get-Support/OnePlus-7-Pro-MMS-help/m-p/1133188/highli...

Key is " I deleted the new custom access point and then, hit the thee dot drop down menu, and it gave me the option "delete all custom access points" so I hit it. It then spit out a new set of default Public mobile APNs"

But I think you still need to update these after..

MMS port: 8799

@Kjh875

when did you have last OS update from OnePlus?

and did you just updated to Android 14?

Yes, that is my apn setting

@Kjh875

it is almost 100% certain PM has some issue with supporting MMS with OnePlus after the recent change.

Please also post a question at Onelus Community https://community.oneplus.com/ as well as open ticket with OnePlus if possible

Thanks for your reply. I've double checked these settings.

I believe this is an issue with PM not supporting certain devices after Feb 14.

@Kjh875

can you double check you have these APN settings?

I have a OnePlus Nord 30 just bought in Sept.

 I appreciate your reply and sharing this with me.

I'm about to lose it. How are they allowed to do this? I suspect my phone ((despite being new) is no longer compatible. Wow!

I have a new OnePlus Nord 30 phone with Android 14.

What is going on with messaging and what is the resolution? Purchasing a new phone is not an option.

Thanks so much for your reply. I've double checked APN settings and it's all correct

@Kjh875

Which model of Android phone? Does data work? Looks like you are having MMS text issues.

Here is an announcement:

https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Announcements/Picture-and-Group-Messaging-End-Date-Fe...

You might need to update your operating system and update APN settings.

@Kjh875 Seems like MMS issue. Please check your APN network settings and make sure it matches the one found here.
