Issue with Calls & VM

Hi there,

I'm down in the US currently, and I keep getting random calls (not that weird), but I answer them, then the line gets cut off (or they hang up) and minutes later I end up with a VM from that same call.

How and Why is this happening??

They're marketing calls and the vm is about being approved for a loan (they're usually US phone numbers, and im Canadian, so don't/won't qualify for a US loan).

Anyone following this.
Since returning back to Canada mid September, all the spam calls have stopped.
It's strange that it only happens while I was in the US, but not while back in Canada.

I could! But all that does it push those calls directly to voicemail! So i'll still have to go in and delete those voicemails.
Answering a call, should in theory stop it from going to voicemail, because the call's been answered. thats what i'm struggling to understand.

@Ryan86

Why don’t you enable Silence Unknown Caller in the Phone settings and disable it when you return to Canada?

Your iphone is VoLTE compatible. If you are having no issues with calls (from other people and outgoing calls), then it is likely an issue on the other side.  Not sure why it automatically goes to voice mail.  Maybe others on the forum can chime in also.

I found a similar post a few years ago, but I don't think that it was resolved:

No issues at all. I'm on an iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Currently in the US (for a few months, so not sure if that has anything to do with it, but i've experienced zero issues with calls or data on this trip).

@Ryan86

Sorry misunderstood your post.

Are you having issues with sending or receiving calls from other phone numbers?

Which model phone are you using?  Is the phone VoLTE compatible with PM network? If not compatible, then there may be voice calling issues (sending and receiving).

It's not the fact that i'm getting the calls. It's that i get the calls, I answer, the line gets cut, then I end up with a voicemail!! this shouldn't be possible because I've answered the call and the line was cut (either they hung up or I did). Once a call is answered it should not go to voicemail. I keep getting all these voicemails from answered calls thats the issue!

For some reason your phone number is on that companies call list.  Who knows exactly why?

Lots of scammers and unwanted calls these days.  Unless you want to change your number (not recommended), there is not much that can be done by yourself or Public mobile.
