@Farjy

Yes, your friend can take her ChatR number to Public Mobile.

Important: If you have already changed your plan to an in-market plan as we discussed in your other topics, make sure that your friend does put your phone number into the "referred from" field at the time she activates her account with Public Mobile. That way you will get the referral reward (only possible if you are on in-market plans, so you have to switch to one of those first by calling *611!)

She should activate her Public Mobile account with a temporary number and make sure that all the services that are part of her plan work properly, inbound and outbound. Her phone needs to be unlocked and needs to compatible with Public Mobile's frequency bands - old 2G GSM only phones will not on Public Mobile.

Her ChatR account needs to be active for moving her number to Public Mobile, so make sure that she initiates the port (=move) a few days before her ChatR account is up for renewal.

She will need to call ChatR customer service to get her account number.

* In selve serve go to change phone number.

* Go to the bottom of the form and check the "I'm authorized" box.

* Put your account number (no special characters and no spaces) in the according field.

* Put the the name of the account holder in its field, exactly as it appears on the ChatR account.

In the transition phase between the two providers the ported number will be active for data and outgoing text and talk on your Public Mobile SIM card. Incoming calls (and likely text) are still going to the ChatR SIM.

The port can take anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours. The process is complete when the ChatR SIM stops working and all incoming and outgoing services, attached to your former ChatR number, are fully functional on the Public Mobile SIM.

She'll get a confirmation text from Public Mobile when the process is completed. The ChatR account will automatically close at this point and the remaining funds in that account will be lost.

If it's taking longer than four hours for all your incoming and outgoing services to fully work on Public Mobile and some calls are still going to your ChatR account you will need to contact the moderator team so that they can help finishing it.

As @closng said, it can be done during activation, or later on fia the self serve portal.

Mi number was ported during activation.  it took about 15 minutes to be moved over.  Just make sure you enter the required information.

Someone else can take over the nuber if the number has been released and placed in the pool. Normally Mobile companies keep reserve your old number for 6 months to one Year for you after cancellation of the service. Talk to your mobile operator for porting your existing nuber, it shuold be fast within few hours to max. a day.

Hi @Farjy,

Yes, it is possible to keep your old number for a new Public Mobile customer, it is a process called porting and you can do it during the activation of the Public Mobile service or afterwards (once you're happy with the service provided by Public Mobile) by yourself through the self-serve portal or by messaging the Moderators.
