Invalid SIM card

While I inserted SIM card into my Samsung Galaxy J3 cell phone, there is a message on the screen says "Invalid SIM card. Network locked SIM card inserted ".

I also bought Costco's Samsung Galaxy J3 phone prior to December 2017 too.

 

Once the new SIM card is installed, the phone was locked to my old carrier (ROGERS).

 

Rogers was unable to unlock it.

 

For the unlock codes, contact 1 800 SAMSUNG with your IMEI.

It automatically locked to the the first carrier (Rogers) when you turned the phone on with the Rogers sim card inserted.  I believe Costco now puts a disclaimer on the price tag/sign in stores now.  You'll have to contact Samsung Canada for the unlock code.  Public Mobile cannot help you with this.

This means that the phone is locked to a different carrier. You will first need to get it unlock to be able to use it at Public Moible.  This can be done by contacting the original carrier, Samsung directly (if it was sold as unlocked at retail), or through party unlock code sellers.

@DavidRiver Is your phone unlocked or locked to Telus/Koodo? If not, you will need to call the carrier it belongs to and tell them to unlock it. They will do it for free of charge.
