Back in 2012, Fido charged me 50$ bucks to unlock my iPhone 5. But after that I think the goverment made it illegal to charge for unlocks!
I don't actually get it why they still insist in lock phones these days.
I just bought a new phone on amazon (Umidigi A5 Pro) for $175 bucks... Unlocked, and it's up and running PM sim card right now! The $175 bucks will pay for itself in 6 months of using PM instead of Fido!!
btw, this Umidigi A5 Pro is freaking fast!!! And I can update the android version by using the generic android image (it's on github!), which means I will never run into the problem of having to buy a new phone because there's no new version of OS for it.
It came with Android 9 installed, but I updated it to Android 10 using the generic image. It's actually faster now than with the original android 9! LOL

Make sure you typed the sim card number correctly... The first time I did, I missed a 0 and PM website said it was an Invalid Sim Card!
Also, the sim card number is ON THE SIM CARD... not on the package or any other place... It's very small, and I would recommend you to take a close picture of it, so you can zoom in and read the number correctly!
this is an example of where the sim card number is:
when I got the "invalid sim card number" message, I realized I had type 3000 instead of 30000, after taking a photo and zooming in the number!!
my 2 cents...
cheers...

The previous provider cannot charge for a requested unlock code.

Did it say Invalid SIM the first time you tried to activate it?
If yes, you may have received an unlucky SIM. Someone may have already mistakenly activated that SIM number. You can contact Moderators to confirm and ask for refund.
To submit a ticket: Click the green question mark at bottom and enter your question into SIMon. Answer the prompts until you get to the Contact Us button, click it and a Submit Ticket button should appear.
If you encounter problems with submitting a ticket, you can also send a private message to Moderators, but this alternate contact method may have longer response time.

Did it always say invalid sim during activation or did you have to restart at some point.
Sometimes sim gets locked in the session and you have to wait for 50 minutes to be released.
If that's the case made sure you close all the windows and flush your cashe to kill the session.
If it was invalid for the moment you entered it, please contact the moderators.
For the phone, you will have to find the way to unlock it if locked.

If your phone says invalid sim, please contact previous provider or the phone manufacturer to unlock it. They must do it free of charge.
If the activation form says it is invalid, please contract moderators
Where did you obtain the sim?
Ps. Don't forget your referral code

When you try to activate here https://activate.publicmobile.ca/
does it say invalid sim?
Or is it when you insert it?

Is your phone locked or did you have a previous provider ? If you had a previous provider then you would need to contact them. If you have a Samsung phone then you could contact them for an unlock code.

Your phone is probably locked to your previous provider. Contact them or the manufacturer directly and ask them to unlock it for you.

If you did not already activate in store, you can do it here: https://activate.publicmobile.ca/
