I can't make phone calls. Get a recording that says "... your plan does not include talk."

Last week I signed up with Puclic Mobile, porting my number from Rogers.

I have a $50 per month plan, auto-pay with my credit card.

  • plan includes: -
  • - 8.5GB at 3G Speed
  • - Unlimited International Text
  • - Unlimited Talk to Canada and the US

I can call my husband who is on Public Mobile. Anyone else I call I get I can't make phone calls. I get a recording that says "... your plan does not include talk."

 

I have tried the online help here with no success.

 

I am so frustrated I am ready to ditch Public Mobile and go back to Rogers.

Have you tried other ideas offered here?

I now get that you spent several days trying to figure out the problem. Good of you to be trying this on your own. Now you've come to the community for more help. You're getting it. You may very well have to contact the moderator team to get the problem resolved.

Try the extra dollar. Try the contact edit. Did you recently come back from out of country? Did you try your SIM in your husbands phone?

My negative attitude is justified because I have been dealing with this issue for a few days. This problem shold not be here. And I can not getting any help to resolve it

Everything works except making outgoing calls using my contacts.

Only when I make a phone call from 'Contacts' does it get answered by Public Mobile with a message saying my plan does not include phone calls

@gilljoanne5  If you can call directly and not via your contacts then it's a phone settings issue and not a provider issue.

 

Did you come back from a trip recently? Maybe it's a prefix dialing rule setting.

 

Try your sim in your husband's phone can he call out using his contacts?

Well you're coming in with a negative attitude that doesn't seem justified. The service works for your husband. Does he have an iphone too? The service works manually dialing. Sometimes phone dialers do things in the background. Maybe go into a contact and edit a detail to something different and save it. Then edit it back. Then try calling it via the contact. See what happens.

When porting over from Rogers it may take a few days. This is a Rodgers issue.
See if text works? if it does you will have to wait another day.

If it continues, then Call Telus because the moving of your number got stuck somewhere in the system

Are you able to text out?  Receive text?  

 

It it might be a stuck port. Have you tried putting your Rogers SIM card to see if it works?

I have powered down my iPhone 8, took out the SIM, waited 5 minutes and restarted.

Same problem.

Never had any issues with Rogers..

 

My husband switched from Rogers withour any problems.

Public Mobile is not worth the hassle

I tried calling one of my contacts without using the contacts and it went through.

When I look at the number called from contacts it is the same number. The call log shows the same number.

I never had a problem calling from my contacts on Rogers.

I will switch back to Rogers if my contacts won't work on Public Mobile.

I have an iPhone 8

Whats the brand and model of your phone ? Did you try the trick that I mentioned above?

It's a bit goofy but try manually adding $1 from your payment card and then restarting the phone.

Heck...restart the phone first anyway.

Have you tried dialing numbers with a 1 in front?

Also try straight dialing rather than from your contacts.

@gilljoanne5 You are probably not provisioned properly, turn on flight  mode, restart and take off flight mode. If this doesn't work for you . You can contact a moderator and explain your situation . Click on the green questionmark in the white circle at the bottom right of your screen. This connects to the autobot Simon.  Type moderator and follow the prompts to get to one. (CLICK on account specific question and human and submit a ticket).
