I tried using *67 but PM says I have no call minutes on my plan even though I am unlimited. I only need this for some calls so I don't want to setup a permanent block. Phone is an Iphone Xs.

When you go through the menus to change it, in the background it's really just dialing *31# (to block caller ID for all future calls), and #31# (allow outgoing caller ID for all future calls), which works on any phone.
For a one-off blocked call, just prefixing #31# when dialing the number is the quickest.
If you have outgoing caller ID blocked by default, prefixing *31# before the number will allow it for just one call.

Device-side settings and software are very unstandardized in how they implement user privacy/security. Some brands (like Apple) treat user "privacy" and "security" very seriously, but their proprietary approaches are not always supported outside their own services. The network handles CID functions with whatever protocols it prefers - and it turns out that the Telus network doesn't consistently support this Apple feature (though the Rogers network does) - regardless of any phone-side UI software settings.

If show your number is on then put #31# in front of the 11 digits to hide your number.

Please use #31# before the phone number.
*67 is really for landlines.
