I just starte use PM $10 plan last week and I noticed that the system count the calling time even the phone I called did not answer my call. Is this the way to count the calling time or should start counting when the phone get answered?

@hairbag1: Well sure but that's more money. I started here at $35.
I'm now on the $10 plan. I have the 200 minutes and 200mb. So far I'm surviving. 🙂

Just as a thought...you can get a Unlimited Province wide calling and Unlimited texting for $25 per month...then get a 200 minutes of Canada / US talk for $8. That add-on doesn't expire until it's used up as long as your plan is active. That way you won't have to count calls. Alternatively, get Unlimited Canada wide calling and Unlimited texting and 1 GB of data for $35 per month. (Same thing with 4.5 GB is only $40....limited time offer) With PM there's no "data overages"...once select and pay for the plan, that's all you pay. Might be something to think about. Good luck.

For COMPLETED calls, I'm almost certain that the clock starts the moment you press "send". So, if for whatever reason the other person doesn't have voicemail or has set the send to voicemail delay to 50 rings or so, those 50 rings would count as part of the call time as well once answered or forwarded to leave a message.

@mimmo: Yup. But in actual practice it only counts if something answers at the other end.

Maybe my call was connected to voice message box and then got charged. Thanks for everybody's help.

this is from the terms of service:
Charges for voice calls are based on the airtime used when you make and receive calls on your mobile phone. Voice airtime is calculated, for both incoming and outgoing calls, from the time the call is initiated to the time it is disconnected, including the time used to route the call through the network and any ring time. The airtime for each voice call is rounded up to the nearest minute.

Are you looking at the call log in usage? What matters is the count in the Overview page. If it ticks up there then it's counting against your minutes. If it's just in the log and doesn't hit the other counter then ignore it.
@Dunkgirl: I don't think that's 100% correct. I just tried. I called a number. It rang. I hung up. No register of the call. Got through to the voicemail and hung up before the beep and it registered the call and counted the minute.

It rounds up to the minute so if you make a phone call for 1 second then hang up, its 1 minute, even if the other person doesn't answer.
