How do I enable texted images to appear while in wifi mode

I cannot view images texted to me when I'm in wifi mode but can when I switch to mobile data.

If using MMS that is normal, it requires cellular data and doesn't work over wifi.  When you get an alert of such a message just toggle cellular data on to receive it.  I always had to do that on my Android phone when I had a low data plan and kept data turned off except when I needed it

What phone do you have?

In my Pixel, I have to go in my settings to turn on RCS which can use both mobile data and wifi. If disabled, my messaging uses SMS/MMS which I believe only uses mobile data.
