Make sure that you have the old SIM card in your phone when you're porting your number. You should get a SMS message from your old carrier asking to confirm if you would like to port your number. Your reply should be: YES.
The confirmation message can take a few minutes to come in. You have 90 minutes from the time of request.

@Skippy69 If you are moving away from PM, you want your number to go with you, right?
Do nothing with PM. just make sure your account is active while you request porting. Hence, Avoid porting out on the very last day of your current cycle. If there is delay , you might have to pay for another month to complete the porting out
PM account has to be active. Then on your new provider, all you need to do is to request porting and provide them your PM account number. You can find it on your My Account, top right
After the porting request is submitted. make sure your PM SIM is still in a phone and wait for an SMS from PM. PM will send you a text and ask for your authorization with the porting. You need to reply YES within 90 min or the porting will not go through
Once you reply YES, the process should finished in around 2 hours. Once your number is ported out, your PM account will be closed. Nothing else need to do on the PM side.

Generally speaking, you just need to open a new account with the new provider.
Then if you want to keep the same phone number, you file a request with the new provider to port the number from the old one over (Note: the account with the old provider must still be active when you initiate this process).

IF you are wanting to port into Public Mobile, you can do this during the Activation of a Public Mobile SIM card, through this process here: https://publicmobile.ca/en/on/portal/activation
You just need to obtain a Public Mobile SIM card first.
IF you are wanting to port out your Public Mobile number, you need to go to the other provider to check their process, and they will take care of the porting for you.
