I joined Public Mobile two months ago by porting my landline number from MTS to my mobile phone. There's a chat program called Telegram - when you register your account, you give it your mobile phone number, it sends you a text, and that's how you verify your account. (You can pick any username you want, but your account is essentially tied to your phone number.) Unfortunately each time I try, Telegram gives me the message "Invalid phone number". Is there a hidden setting somewhere that flags my phone number as being a landline? It's a 204 area code. (Also, please don't suggest alternative chat programs, I really need this one specifically.)

Hey @TomT,
Welcome to Public Mobile!
As Luddite mentioned, I'll be able to check on the status of your port request. Can you please send me your phone number via private message? 🙂
Thank you,
Mary

OK, then you will need moderator assistance to confirm the port-in is complete. Send any one of them a private message ( @Mary_M for example) with your phone number and an explanation. Coverage is currently: Mon-Thursday 9am(EST) to 9pm(EST) and Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9am(EST) to 5:30pm(EST).

@TomT Let us know make/model of your phone. Someone may have specific info.
Was your port-in quite recent? Perhaps phone number routing tables are still being updated?

Being an ex-landline may be why things are not working. Just for kicks, I downloaded telegram and got it to work. My number was always a cell number. Try doing a lookup of your number to see if it is showing as registered with Public Mobile/Telus.
