Dropped calls on Vancouver Island

Crockett1

I just returned from four weeks in Ontario and Atlantic Canada where dropped calls were never an issue. As soon as I returned to Nanaimo on Vancouver Island, I started experiencing frequent dropped calls. Is anyone else dealing with this issue? It's been a regular problem for the past few months.

I have been up to Naniamo and Parksville three times in the past week and didn't experience any dropped calls.  I didn't have a lot of calls while up there but none were ever dropped.

I don’t bother testing my data speeds.

All I know is when my device is manually switched to ‘3G only’ to enhance telephone capability, the data is almost nonexistent.

That is using an iPhone 14 on 5G.

It should be noted that is not with public mobile service.

What data speeds possible with 5G plan plus best phone but on 3G network?

Try it @Crockett1 .

Perhaps it won’t – just sharing my experience

Why would I sacrifice my data by switching the setting to 3G?

The thing about setting it to 3G only is you will sacrifice your data.

You should be able to use auto in your settings, in most circumstances

Okay, figured out how to change the settings to 3G. Will reboot the phone and see how it goes during the next few days.

Thanks for your suggestion. How do I set my preferred network to 3G? Doesn't appear to be that option on my iPhone.

Data reliable? You have 4 or 5G plan?

@Crockett1

Try setting the preferred network to 3G and reboot. See if that makes a difference.

@Crockett1

try rebooting your device and resetting network connections.

If available, you can also try your public mobile SIM card in another device for a while to see if the dropped calls persist. This will help establish whether it may be a device related or service related issue.
