Dialing Long Distance

Was just playing with this over on Koodo and no idea why it is what it is

Just curious for any members feedback on Public (want to see if this is a Telus limitation or something)

From my experiance, you normaly are supposed to dial +country code then number

But I figured out (through trial and error) that this does not actually work over on Koodo

Anyone with experiance dialing internationally on Public chip in I would be interested in feedback & compare notes

Example

Hong Kong has country code +852

China has country code +86

Dialing +852 XXX-XXXX works on Koodo

Dialing +86 XXX-XXXX does NOT work on Koodo

BUT dialing 011 86 XXX-XXXX then does work

No idea why the inconsistancy

For those with the Public Mobile 400 minutes;

Do you always dial +code or 011 code?

Or both?

Dunno thats why I was curious

Hong Kong & Taiwan you can def just dial +

As far as I knew, *only* CDMA used to require dialing 011

Bell and Rogers certainly do not

Hence my confusion when Koodo blocked me

And I always thought the +-sign was just an indicator usually written somewhere to say that whatever your exit code is to get out of your country...dial that in front. Here's the rest of our number - country, area, prefix, number.

For North America that's 011. Other countries can have different exit codes. And of course for others outside of NA to get to NA, they dial their exit code and then 1 for NA then the area code etc.

Is that a thing? You can use the +-sign in place of the exit code? I'm assuming it kinda dials the proper exit code on its own.

I always thought 011 which is a exit and required when dialing international number. If 011 plus the rest of the number works every time, then it's consistent.
