My data recently ran out so I bought 1GB more, but it is still not working.
I have also checked my account and it says that I have almost half a GB left of my original data.
I live in BC, but I have been in Alberta for the last few days. Could that be the issue?

@SamBrad hi that shouldn't effect your data are you in a remote area with poor service , besides you data is calling and texting working

use browser from computer,and clear cache and cookies and use one page inPrivate mode,
To Login Page
and go to Plan & Add-ons, it's showing to you it's there,then rebooting device.
if see the amount at your Available Fund, for the add-ons, then go to rebuy it again.

If you on Canada Wide then it does not matter where you are (while in Canada).
Did you try rebooting your phone? Maybe changing provinces somehow interfered with your service.

PM plan shouldn’t affect your data. It is Canada wide. Try rebooting your phone by powering it off then back on.
