My current subscription on my account/profile shows up as $34/month. I cannot tell if it was actually $34/month or if it was more, and that $34 accounts for the loyalty and other monthly discounts I have? I think it does. Second question... If I sign for a new plan at cost $40/month, will my loyalty and referral monthly credits transfer to that plan, thus making it cheaper than the advertised $40/month?

PM has changed the legacy system into the new Public Points. If you are still thinking the $1 /month for each year upto $5 /month loyalty, that has been replaced by 2% Points 

So, you are now paying full plan price now and get rewards in points.  Once you saved upto 20 points, you can then redeem for $20 credit to apply for renewal

For friend referral, they will be unaffected by plan change.
