I am a current Public Mobile customer and want to port my wife's number from Telus to Public Mobile, I am pretty clear on the porting steps, replay with any advice or FYI's, however I don't know if I should leave her SIM card in the phone or remove and go with an esim, if I goo with esim will all the phone contents etc be lost?

@CanuckJakee16 I would leave the Telus SIM in until you get the confirmation text. After you respond "YES" you can remove the Telus SIM and wait for porting to complete. Usually takes an hour or 2. I usually test by calling with another phone every 15 minutes until it begins ringing

Thanks for the reply, I will probably pull the SIM card and go with an esim, once I pull the SIM card I will need to be on my home WIFI to use the PM app, through the app I should be able to setup, port number though I'm not sure if I will get the text notification confirming change and select plan, am I missing anything here,

@CanuckJakee16 I went with an eSIM and had no trouble and did not lose any contents etc, I found it to be pretty straight forward. PM will send you an email with a QR code to scan, and then the PM app will do the setup for you. You need to have the PM app installed on the phone.
Physical SIM card is easy too as you just pop it in your phone but you need to get one either at a store (TELUS/Koodo or Mobile Klinik) or you will need one shipped to your house from Amazon or Public Mobile

Changing SIM cards does not cause phone contents to be lost.  As for the choice between regular SIM and eSIM, once running, it'll probably make no difference to her.  it is, however, easier to take a regular SIM card out and put it into another phone if she ever wants to use a different device.  As for her Telus Mobility SIM card, that cannot be used at Public Mobile.
