Hi Community,
I am disappointed that I lost my money when I changed my phone plan to a new one. I used to be with Fido and when I change my plan, Fido prorated my bills and gave me the leftover money that I didn't use from the old plan. Without any doubt, I thought it would be the same case, so I changed my 90 days plan at Public mobile when I had another 30 days left. There was no warning or any explanation that I would lose my money from the previous plan. When I realized there was no money credit from the old plan, I was shocked!!! If I ever knew, I would do the add-on for the less money... Is there any way that I could get my credit back?
Thank you for your help.
Kim

The last time I went to make a plan change, there were big red letters telling me that I would pay full cost changing my base plan part way trhough the cycle.
Future dating is the only way to change a plan, and not lose your prepaid value.

@siwonkimtam what was the reason for changing the plan? what addon are you referring to? if you are referring to a 1gb addon for 30$ then more often than not it is cheaper (especially $/gb) to renew a plan early like you did.
the difference is pretty clear from what i remember between futuredating or immediate plan changes

@siwonkimtam, this is a prepaid service. There are no refunds. If you decide to switch plans before the previous one is used up, you forfeit the remaining usage. This is exactly what happened in your case. Most customers who want to go to a different plan would opt to do the transition at time of next renewal. This future dating option will ensure no paid usage is lost.
In your case, you could contact the moderator team and discuss the situation. Maybe they will revert you back to the old plan and future date the change for you so you don't lose paid usage. A straight refund is extremely unlikely. The moderator team can be reached via private message using this link. Refer to the following link for information on contacting the moderator team.

Hi @siwonkimtam, Sorry to hear about your situation. However, unlike Fido, Public Mobile's plans are all prepaid. Whenever you change a plan in the middle, you forfeit the remaining portion of the plan. This is explained in the following knowledge base article https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/Knowledge-Base/All-about-our-Plans-and-Add-ons/ta-p/2... in the section called immediate plan change.
You could always make a request to the moderators team for a credit, but I highly doublt they would be able to offer any.
