2 ways to cancel your service:
1 - Port your number to another carrier.
2 - Login to your account and disable Subscribe button and your account will be closed in 90 days for nonpayment.
Once your account is closed. Your SIM can’t be used again and your number will be returned to the carrier you got the number from.

if you need your phone number, you will have to activate a new account somewhere else, then request porting. After port completed, the PM account will be closed
if you do not even need the number, turn off Autopay from My Account, Payment page, Manage Subscription

@isapaniccia if you are transferring your number out to a new company the porting process will automatically close your account but make sure you PM account is active first. After you have ported your number out that should be it but for extra piece of mind you can contact a CS agent and request that they remove your credit card info
Forgot to mention that if porting out, keep your PM SIM card in your phone as you will receive a confirmation text that you will need to respond Yes to within 90 minutes. After that you can remove the PM SIM card and what for the porting process to complete
If you are not keeping the number then your can go into the PM app and suspend your account. After 90 days of not being active the account will automatically close and you will lose your number.
