Canada - US plan needed like Freedom’s $34/30 gb

Hey, I see freedom mobile is offering 34/30 gb with US Calling and roaming. I am thinking of porting, is public mobile planning any such updates or should I PORT?

I need US calling and roaming and public mobile has this with add ons which are extremely highly priced.

This seems to be a more genuine and logical answer till now. The only point is will public mobile come up with something similar or not. Your actual test usage really pushes me to take a jump to freedoms plan with US included.

As a point of reference, I'm a current PM customer with the $50 CAN-USA plan that doesn't exist any more (I moved from Telus this summer when the $50 plan was offered and I couldn't handle the $15 roam like home charges anymore with Telus - so I don't have the old loyalty rewards just the $2.5 a month in points credit).  The Freedom mobile $34 US-CAN was very tempting to me because of the significantly reduced price and the ability to have add-on packages for the Caribbean and Europe travel, but I had heard so many terrible things about Freedom's coverage though, that I was concerned.  I'm in Edmonton.  I signed up for Freedom prepaid for the $34 30GB US-CAN plan a week ago, so it is prepaid like Public which I like.  I have both sims running still but turned data off on PM, as I wasn't sure I would commit to Freedom.  I have been testing calling and data on Freedom everywhere I go.  I have to say, for my use I have not seen any difference with Freedom and in fact I get better service with Freedom in my house and in my office downtown.  I was streaming music last weekend while driving on the Anthony Henday and then headed out of town (out of the Freedom network to my parents house) and it seamlessly transferred to roaming on Rogers with no issues at all.  I'm going to try it for a bit more, before I make the switch for sure, but so far, everything is pointing to porting my number to Freedom.  Yes, I did double pay for a month, but I decided it was worth it instead of risking switching and hating Freedom.  The more research I do, it really seems that Freedom and whether or not you will hate it may depend where you are located and maybe your phone (I have an iPhone 14 pro max).  It also seems that some people have different experiences in the same city, so I am glad I did the trial first to be sure.

You just got a hell lot of freebies. Amazing!

@Shravan  I know I’m in Nova Scotia and it bothers me that Quebec gets special plans that best if the country doesn’t . But at least with PM we get the rewards that makes the plans cheaper also . But it’s still not fair we can have same plan across the country considering there Canada wide plans with or without the US roaming part of it .

adding in a PM lifer and defender because of the rewards @Shravan

Agreed. But they do have a similar offer in Quebec but not on offer in Ontario, which is quite strange.

But, the price is the point. It’s not about with add on or without add on. I frequently travel to US and my family is in US which makes me consider Freedom’s offer.

You know as much as we do. PM does not do price matching. Any attractive offer is geared toward New customers.
PM does have few Can+USA plans where you can use your plan in either country without add-ons.

@Shravan  We are just customers like you here trying to help no one here knows what PM will or won’t do .

Public uses the Telus Network.  Freedom network isn't even close.  You're comparing 2 very different providers with very different coverage.  You should try Freedom, but you'll be back.
