I have the $15 3G plan. My phone shows 3 bars with LTE and when I try making a call the call never starts to ring. Other people who have Telus that are in my same location can make calls. Does public mobile get a weaker signal then Telus?

@softech Thats great to know thats not true and the signal is the same. I did some research on VoLTE and found that iPhone 8 or newer should work. I thought I had an iPhone 8 but its actually an iPhone 7 that I cofirmed in the phone's setting. Im going to try to put my SIM card in someone else's phone and see if that works.

not true, all plans can access 3G/4G/5G networks, just the speed will be capped accordingly.
True is Telus has reduced 3G coverage in in Winnipeg and Brandon, Manitoba.
VoLTE is the solution in the area. However, if VoLTE does not work well, then there is really no other way to improve the voice quality 😞
your iPhone is on the latest iOS and most updated Carrier profile?

When I ask if someone can call me they say it goes right to voicemail or rings and I don't get a notification. I tried changing Voice & Data to 3G and no luck

I have an iPhone 8. I tried the the iPhone option and in Voice & Data I already had LTE on. With Wi-Fi off the iphone shows LTE in the top left corner. Still same issue and won't connect. I have a feeling since I have a 3G plan I can't make calls in a LTE area. Im in rural Manitoba and the tower near me is Rogers 700MHz and Bell 2600MHz

@Gord204 he has VoLTE with Telus and you don't. Or maybe you have you didn't activate it
what phone do you have ?
You can also try to see if VoLTE works. But first, what brand and model of phone you have?
You can check the VoLTE compatibility here: https://www.publicmobile.ca/en/on/get-help/articles/volte
If you have a compatible one try to turn on VoLTE
iPhone: Likely no extra work need to do as Telus will enable by default but hide the option. Still you can check
Settings->Cellular->Cellular Data Options->Voice & Data, enable 4G or LTE there
Pixel: Likely no extra work need to do as Telus will enable by default but hide the option. Still you can check
Settings->Network and Internet->Internet, click on the settings icon besides SIM 1, turn on 4G calling there
Samsung/ Other Android: Settings->Connection->Mobile Data, enable VoLTE there
Now, turn off Wifi first. Check if the phone status bar showing it is connected to 4G or LTE
Then make some calls, see if the signal indicator shows LTE or drop back to H or 3G while you are on the calls. If it stays with LTE, then yes, you are using VoLTE, and you can see if calls are any better.

Are you receiving calls alright? Apparently there is no signal fiddling with Telus/Public. Are you in MB? Can you try to switch the phone down to 3G/WCDMA to see if calls work better?

@Gord204 Should be same signal . Try your network on 4G/LTE 3G or even 5G and test in different areas and see if it helps with signal and voice
