Can I receive SMS when I am in US if I do not buy the US roaming addon?

I think the text arrives as an invite to buy add-ons. If not then the invite wouldn't happen. Would the roaming partner go to the effort to filter just from 611? Not likely. I think if people aren't getting the text then they aren't connected to a roaming partner (T-Mobile-only now?).

While many members have confirmed this and while it's something that it was always the case since U.S. roaming was introduced, the ability to receive text messages while in the U.S. without needing a roaming add-on was made official by Public Mobile at the same time that they were working on a fix for an issue relating to the inability to receive text messages afer coming back to Canada.

I've been able to receive SMS messages whilst in US w/o the add-on....just can't send messages w/o it.

There's been feedback from some PM'er that they don't receive texts whilst in US ..so your results might vary.
