@Charo

for a small monthly fee, you can transfer your active Public Mobile number to Numberbarn...but you'll lose any Rewards or Points you may have. Once you get back home, you need to download the Public Mobile app to your cell, then create a new account and activate with a new plan. (you'd need to buy a new Public Mobile sim locally or get a new $5 esim during the activation of your plan)

I wouldn't suggest initiating transfer of your old number to PM during the activation. Take a new number to start and once your new account is up and running, you can initiate transfer of your old number back to your new account.

One option is to port your number to a VoIP like TextNow or Fongo but there is a small charge.

hi @Charo

Sorry, PM only allows accounts to be on hold for no more than 90 days or you will lose your phone number.

if you are going for 6 months, you have to first suspend the account for no more than 90 days.  People usually come back to resume resume the account couple days before the 90 days mark.   Resume the service for 30 days and put it on hold again for 90 days again.  That would be sufficient if you are going for only 6 months

not 6 months, 90 days is max.  You can put it on hold for 85 days and then resume service for 30 days and on hold for another 90 day
