Calls go Straight to Voicemail

Livia22

Hi!

My calls are going straight to voicemail. Can make outgoing calls, everything else working fine. I've had people leave me voicemails and when I go to check it says my inbox is empty.

Any ideas?

Missed that part. Thanks. Ummm. The one thing I don't know, is because I usually call back because of call display, how long are voicemails kept in the system before deleted with PM?

Hi @Livia22

If you have an iPhone, go to Settings, tap Phone, tap Silence Unknown Callers, then toggle Silence Unknown Callers off then reboot. Then tell that person who went to voicemail to try again.

I had this issue a few weeks ago after an update and most folks were going to voicemail. When I did the above, everything went back to normal.

It's true that an inocrrect setting can cause calls going to go to voicemail without the phone ringing.  However, the OP has indicated that messages were left.  Sending unknown callers to voicemail wouldn't delete the voice messages there were left.

@Livia22 - have you restarted your phone since activation? If not, try that. And perhaps a reset of the device's network settings.

If this was a port over to public mobile than is this a landline, cell or voip number?

If you have activated a new account and transferred over from another provider, note that incoming calls are usually the last to port over.

  • Cell ports can take 2-3 hours. Use the previous provider's SIM card to receive the porting transfer text for approval, within 90 minutes, to port over to Public Mobile and to receive calls from until port is complete.
  • Landline/voip ports can take 3+ days. Expect a mix of services on the landline and Public Mobile SIM card until port is complete.

When the incoming calls stop on the previous provider’s SIM card and/or landline/voip account, that is a good indication the port is complete.

If still issues, submit a ticket with Public Mobile representatives (CSA) for help; click this link for issues with transfer/porting of phone numbers over to Public Mobile.

If you did request the number porting that @softech was talking about, another reason to re-insert your old carrier's SIM card would to check for the voice messages on your old carrier's service.  Any of your incoming calls coming from non-Telus, Public, and Koodo customers will be going there.

@Livia22

did you just join PM network and requested porting?

If so, did you get a text from your old provider and you have to reply YES within 90 mins?  If you are not receiving calls and text on your PM sim card, and only outgoing calls, wok  then you might have missed the step and hence porting was not completed

There is a number to call to talk to live support,  they can re-trigger the process for you.  I will message the number to you via the Community inbox ( https://productioncommunity.publicmobile.ca/t5/notes/privatenotespage ) .  Check the envelope icon on top right.  Call them tomorrow morning (they are closed for the night already)  and get it fixed
