@gibo the above post may have some helpful information for you, i don't really know, tl;dr.

But, I certainly know the copy and paste of the last 3 lines about contacting customer support is not necessary for your situation/question.

Happy and safe travels.

@gibo

Mint mobile is an excellent suggestion. They offer 3 month plans starting at US$15/4gb with unlimited calling/texting to Canada and Mexico. If the snowbirds are already pm customers and want to continue to receive their incoming pm calling they can download a voip provider such as textnow or fongo and choose a Canadian number.

Before leaving Canada have them call forward their pm number to their voip number. Make sure they remove the pm sim card before they leave Canada and stow it away safely for travel so that it does not connect to a US cell tower. Their pm calling will ring thru to their voip app on their phone(s) while on WiFi or mobile data.**

**A couple with two phone's can have one person perform the above procedure and the other buy a US Roaming data add on for their travel to their destination. Having a only a US Roaming data add on will allow them to receive incoming pm texts and use their voip app (textnow) for calling and outgoing texts.

Once they arrive at their destination they can order one mint mobile SIM card kit. It will come with a free trial SIM card referral kit. One person activates and refers the other who enjoys a free 7 day trial and once they activate both will receive a $15 account credit. This can be used for their second 3 months of service package.

A family member back in Canada can have on hand a preordered pm sim card from Canadian Cell Supplies (currently $2.99). Once settled the family member can help perform a sim swap for the pm sim that had the US Roaming add on. They can then put the swapped SIM card in their phone and call forward that pm number to voip number so both of the snowbirds will receive their pm incoming calls to their phones in the US.

Combined with pm's $15 plan and mint mobile's US $15 plan they will have a "virtual" pm roaming plan along with a full service US mobile plan for about $35/30 days. Mint mobile also offers very reasonable pay as you go roaming in Canada and Mexico if needed.

Would cost a fortune to do 3 of the roaming plans a month for 4-6 months, the suggestions above are the most cost efficient and probably better service as well with the question marks in the US re: 3g networks.

Thanks, this will help.

@gibo  - there are only 10 Roaming Addon buckets to purchase whilst in the USA.

Not really, a good idea for your situation.

Perhaps Mint Mobile (https://www.mintmobile.com/) would have good options for you.

@gibo   Sorry, no more snowbird plans for PM  😞

If you are there that long, it is better to just join some US prepaid Data package (cheaper and offer more data)  and then use free VoIP app like TextNow to make the free calls back home

To save some money, you can suspend your plan here and renew every 85 days to keep the number and plan alive.

Sorry, but the only thing that Public Mobile currently offers for US use are 10-day US roaming add-ons.
