Bad sim ??????

so i purchased a sim and a prepaid talktime voucher and activated my sim and then successfuly added talktime and then i inserted the sim to my unlocked device that prior to me owning the device a friend of mine owned this device and his public mobile sim worked so iam thinking i have a bad sim what do i do now since public mobile is so cheap they cant afford a 1800 number with a live agent anys

Bad SIM is possible, but rare.

 

Try one or more of the below:

*turn off your phone, leave off for a minutes, then reboot

*removing your SIM for a few minutes, then reinserting it

*go into airplane mode for a few minutes, then going back to regular mode

*reset network settings

 

Hopefully this is not the case, if you got the phone from a friend, but check if your phone is blacklisted here:

I doubt it is a bad SIM but you never know so swap the PM SIM into another phone as noted by everyone.

If it works on other phones then it is your phone is the problem.
If not, there might be an activation issue so check on your self service account to see if you were charged if it was activated correctly then the porting is in progress.

Try in different phones and you have not have setup your phone properly while switching the sim cards. Worst case would be get another SIM and also worth contacting the MOD to see if there is anything they can do. (Only contact them after you have actually made sure that everything is active).

A little more info is required.

 

  1. Do you have any services at all?
  2. Can you log into your self serve account?
  3. What is the message your phone is giving? No sim detected?
  4. Does Public Mobile show on your phone's screen?
  5. Did you get the welcome email from pm?

Rather than a bad sim which is very rare it is more likely your sim card did not provision correctly and/or your account did not set up properly. Contact the moderators by clicking the chat bubble at the bottom right corner of your screen. Type in incomplete activation and human and follow the prompts to submit your ticket.

 

Wait times are usually 2 to 4 hours up to 48 hours for non urgent issues. This past week or so they have been one hour or less. Keep an eye on your private message box the envelope icon next to your avatar at the top right corner of your screen for a little number to pop up indicating a message from the moderators. Responding promptly will speed up service times.

There is no lag in an activation.  Once completed, the SIM is active right away.

Are you able to check your self serve account to see if it is in active status.

It is rare for a bad sim.  Are you getting any error message.  If you have another phone try swapping the sim.
