Bad service and calls dropping

Anyone else experience extremely patchy service on phone calls? I can barely get two words into a phone call with the call cutting out for every single incoming our outgoing call. Calls have also randomly been dropping 5 minutes into the call.. not sure what is going on. Any one else having this issue?

Are you on a $15 plan or higher? I am having same problem on old 3G $15 plan.

Also in BC. The only way I can have reliable calling service is putting sim into old flip phone or ancient android with no volte. Have been waiting over 48hrs since submitting ticket and no response. All I want to do is opt out of this failed volte experiment.

I finally came into contact with a customer agent today and while I had their attention, I asked a lot of questions about this dropped call issue.

In my case, my home is in the middle of a 5G dead zone and has always had poor signal for LTE and 3G.  Lately, drop calls have become more frequent and it may be due to more people using the network in the area. There has been a lot of growth and development in our neighborhood.

I reviewed a bunch of tips that have been suggested in this community and in the internet with the customer agent to see if any of these tips help.

The only tip that the customer agent agreed with was changing the phone setting for the "preferred network type" from 5G (recommended) to LTE.  I have done so, however, I need to make a lot more calls to see whether there truly has been any improvement.

I also asked if turning off " automatically select network" and manually choosing Public Mobile network would help. The agent was not sure and said to go ahead and try. It couldn't hurt.

The customer service agent also told me that other stuff like turning off roaming, turning off 2G calling, removing and reinserting Sim, replacing the SIM, changing from Sim to esim should not make any difference whatsoever to reducing dropped calls.

Otherwise, all you can do is reset your network on your phone or reboot. And if it gets really bad, contact PM and ask them to refresh the network on their side.

Yeah I’m in BC! I’ve asked a few of my friends in BC as well and they’ve said the same thing.. hopefully it will get fixed soon because no point in having a cheaper plan if I can’t even make calls!

I don't know if your in BC but It seems to be an ongoing problem at the moment out there. There been a few comments here lately and most seem to be from there

@Soph2  Unfortunately this is par for the course with PM and dropped calls . At least this is my experience . I have voLTE phone/account. And it still doesn’t seem to help . But that’s the trade off for cheap cell plans
